A man’s body was found wrapped up in a blanket inside his business premises at Soy market in Likuyani Sub County, Kakamega County on Monday morning.

Residents who discovered the body of Noah Wekesa, 25, inside his business premises cum residential house whose door was open, alerted the local administrators who called the police. They had checked after getting curious that the door was open and there was no activity at the premises.

Likuyani Chief Boniventure Lugado who spoke to the press in Soy market said the deceased had visible injuries on the head. “Early today I received a call from Soy Township village elder Samson Kosgey notifying me of the deceased’s discovered body. I called the Likuyani Officer Commanding Station who visited the scene immediately. They have already launched investigations to ascertain what exactly happened,” he stated.

Lugalo said the body was discovered by residents who found the doors of the deceased’s video shop open but with no activity as usual. Soy residents decried the rise in insecurity incidents in the area noting that at least a murder incident is reported in the market and its surroundings after every two to three months.

They blamed security agencies for laxity, saying it is ironic for suspects to be arrested and get released after a few days under unclear circumstances. The body of the deceased was moved to Soy mortuary.
