Marakwet West Schools Advance to County Level in Term 2 Ball Games

The Term 2 sub-county ball games have concluded with remarkable performances from various schools in Marakwet West, securing their spots to compete at the county level. The competitions over the past week showcased exceptional talent and sportsmanship across multiple disciplines, including soccer, volleyball, basketball 3×3, netball, and rugby 7s.

In the boys’ soccer category, Chebai Boys and Kaptabuk Secondary emerged as the top teams, securing their spots for the county level. The girls’ soccer teams advancing are Yemit Girls and Kondabilet Secondary, showing remarkable skill and determination on the field.

Jemunada Secondary and Chebara Boys will represent the region in boys’ volleyball. Their powerful serves and strategic plays impressed spectators and judges alike. For the girls, Chebara Girls and Santa Maria Cheptulon Girls demonstrated exceptional teamwork and athleticism, earning their advancement.

Basketball saw intense competition, particularly in the 3×3 format. St Peter’s Marakwet Boys and Chebara Boys clinched the top positions in the boys’ category, while Santa Maria Cheptulon Girls and Chebara Girls dominated the girls’ category, showcasing their agility and scoring prowess.

Koibarak Secondary and Moi Kapcherop Girls stood out in the netball competition, with both schools displaying excellent coordination and shooting accuracy. Rugby 7s featured thrilling matches, with St Peter’s Marakwet Boys and Chebara Boys advancing after displaying formidable strength and strategy on the field.

As these schools prepare for the county-level competitions, the community stands proud of their achievements and eagerly anticipates their continued success. The dedication and hard work of the students, coaches, and supporters have been pivotal in advancing this far.

John Kiptoo, the regional sports coordinator, remarked, “The talent we’ve seen in these games is truly inspiring. These young athletes have shown exceptional skill and sportsmanship, and we are confident they will continue to excel at the county level.”

“We are incredibly proud of our students. Their dedication and sportsmanship are commendable,” said a Marakwet West education board representative.  “We look forward to seeing them perform at the county level and wish the schools’ achievements have brought immense pride to the Marakwet West community.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, John Kimutai, the event coordinator, praised the students’ dedication and hard work. “These young athletes have shown incredible talent and sportsmanship. We are confident that they will continue to excel at the county level and make us proud,” he said.

The advancing teams are now preparing for the county-level matches, where they will compete against the best from other regions. The excitement and anticipation are palpable as these young athletes aim to bring glory to their schools and the entire Marakwet West region.

The upcoming county-level matches promise to be an exciting continuation of this term’s sports season, with Marakwet West schools ready to showcase their talents on a larger stage.
