While delivering the desks on behalf of Equity Bank Group, Migori branch Manager, Nicodemus Atella said that the programme is one of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which aims at giving back to the community.

He noted that the organisation was on a journey to help transform the education sector in Suna West, Suna East, and Nyatike constituencies by providing a conducive environment and addressing school infrastructure challenges. Atella said that the initiative will create a lasting impact on academic work, raise a society that excels in education, and empower the whole community.

Over the past two weeks, 25 schools have benefited from the programme with more than 200 chairs and lockers donated across the three Sub Counties of Suna West, Suna East and Nyatike. Milka Oyier, the Principal of Saint Peter’s Maweni Girls acknowledged that the desks will help solve the shortages of desks and lockers in the institution.

She noted that the lockers will give the students a reprieve from having to carry their books in bags that makes them vulnerable to bad weather.
