Nakuru Members of County Assembly (MCA) from Molo sub-county have today urged area MP Kuria Kimani to prioritise murraming of rural roads to enhance movement of farm produce from the farms to local markets saying the heavy rainy season adversely affected the condition of the roads.

Speaking in Molo Township, the MCAs representing Molo, Turi and Elburgon accused the area MP of spending development funds in other sectors and failing to prioritise road murraming.

With the aftermath of the heavy rainfall experienced in the past few weeks, the Molo MCA who is also deputy speaker of the Nakuru County Assembly, Josphat Ngware said the MP, despite his national stature as chairman of the parliamentary select committee on finance had also failed to lobby for the re-tarmacking of Mau Summit-Njoro-Nakuru and Kibunja-Molo roads.

He said the roads are key economic lifelines to receive supplies and as well as transport their produce to the market for locals who mainly practice mixed farming. Elburgon MCA Njuguna Mwaura and Turi MCA John Mwangi shared similar sentiments saying that they will not remain silent on the matter until it is acted upon.

Mwaura noted that the area receives a lot of rainfall and if the roads will not be upgraded then the locals who mostly engage in farming are likely to experience greater losses adding that the poor road status can be a catalyst to the occurrence of road accidents.

The trio urged Kuria to work closely with them and get the concerns addressed and deliver as per the interests of the locals.
