After failing to clinch the Narok Women Representative seat thrice, Ms. Lydia Masikonde- Ntimama, the daughter of former Heritage Minister William Ntimama, has bowed down to support her political rival incumbent women representative.

The two politicians who have been opposing each other sharply have agreed to bury their differences and work together for the benefit of the people. Narok Women Representative Rebecca Tonkei, who is elected on a UDA ticket beat Ms. Ntimama (ODM) in the last general election, and since then, the two have not been seeing eye to eye.

In a meeting attended by hundreds of their supporters, Ms. Ntimama said she agreed to bow down and support Ms. Tonkei in her political journey so that the county can move forward. “I realized that if we women come together, we will put this county to a higher rank in development as we will push for what is rightfully ours. From today, I support Ms. Tonkei’s development agenda,” she said.

The daughter of the fallen Maa hero also put her support to the ruling administration- Kenya Kwanza, saying the people of Narok North, where she comes from, have lagged behind in development because they have always been in the opposition. “Narok North has been known as an ODM zone for a long time. We have suffered because of remaining in the opposition. This time round, I want to welcome President William Ruto to come and launch development projects in this area,” she said.

On her part, the county MP welcomed Ms. Ntimama to work with her and the government saying she respect her personal decision because she is a woman with a large following in the county. “We have vied twice with Ms. Ntimama for this seat. In 2017, both of us lost. In 2022, I got the seat but she lost. Today I respect her decision to back me in my political journey as we deliver services to wananchi,” said Ms. Tonkei.

The duo were speaking at the Narok County Women Representative office premises during a meeting attended by hundreds of Narok residents. On the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua impeachment motion, the duo said they support the impeachment motion alleging that the DP has failed to be a symbol of National unity.

“He always speaks of Mlima, as though there are no mountains in other parts of the country. He has put this country in a political mood and it is time he goes home,” said Ms. Tonkei.
