Nakuru County Commissioner, Loyford Kibaara has cautioned residents of Mariashoni against land grabbing saying that it is unacceptable and added that anyone found culpable will be brought to book.

Kibaara noted that area leaders and administration officers have held dialogue over the matter through a series of meetings with the locals but added that it is apparent there are rogue individuals who want to derail law and order by causing havoc.

The County Commissioner warned that such rogue characters will not be tolerated but will be dealt with in accordance with the law. He asked those who know they have occupied farms that they don’t own to vacate and desist from causing unnecessary tension and advised residents to endeavor to embrace peaceful co-existence.

Mr. Kibaara consequently gave a ten-day ultimatum to individuals who have encroached private land to slash all the maize planted on the farms and bring down the structures erected on the conflict-zone farms.

Further, the administrator stated that since the issue is being handled in court, the current owners will be allowed to continue occupying the farms until the matter is heard and determined and they get to know the fate of their property.

He pointed out that investigations are ongoing for those not adhering to the directives of the County Security Committee concerning the matter adding that they will keep monitoring the matter until it has been finalized in court.
