Nakuru County is developing a Human Resources Management System (HRMS) that is expected to optimise human resource operations within the county.

The HRMS aims at streamlining and digitizing employee records for better accessibility and accuracy, monitoring and evaluation of employee performance. The system will also see the creation of an online platform for job applications and integrate biometric data for precise tracking of employee attendance.

County Secretary and Head of Public Service, Dr Samuel Mwaura and the Nakuru County Human Resource Taskforce Chairperson, Roselyn Mungai met with a team from TSConnect Limited, an end-to-end software integration company, that is developing the application in a bid to fine tune the key aspects of the HRMS to be deployed in Nakuru.

Dr Mwaura noted that the system has numerous benefits, including a systematic appraisal process to increase service delivery and an easier application process for county job positions.

Additionally, the system will enhance the management of leaves, clock-ins, and time attendance, ensuring a more efficient and accountable workforce as promised by H.E. Governor Susan Kihika in her manifesto.  Ms Mungai highlighted the County’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved governance.

“The new HRMS will set Nakuru on a path to enhanced operational efficiency and transparency,” she noted. In its County Integrated Development Plan (CDIP) for 2023-2024, Nakuru County strategized to enhance human resource management practices and productivity by developing and disseminating appropriate human resource guidelines and policies.

It also plans to establish approved schemes of service as well as ensure effective and fair disciplinary controls and management. The CDIP also indicates the County government’s plan to comply with affirmative action requirements in recruitment and promotions.
