Neighbours St Joseph Boys and Girls High Schools Reach Semi-Finals

In an exhilarating third day of the Rift-Valley secondary school term two games, neighboring schools St Joseph Boys High School and St Joseph Girls High School have both advanced to the semi-finals in football, marking a significant achievement for the institutions.

St Joseph Boys High School, the rising stars from Transnzoia County, secured their spot in the semi-finals by defeating Ololulunga Boys High School from Narok County 2-0. The match held at Silibwet Stadium, saw goals from Inisitin Simiyu and Samuel Kiptoo. The triumph was witnessed by an enthusiastic crowd led by the school’s chief principal, Cosmas Nabungolo, alongside county sports officials.

St Joseph Boys will now face Kaplong Boys High School from Bomet, who edged out Turkana’s Elgeyo-Markwet Kerio Boys High School 4-3 in a nail-biting penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. In another quarter-final match, Laiser Hill Academy advanced to the semi-finals after their opponents, Kabarnet Boys High School from Baringo, were disqualified for fielding non-students.

The match was scheduled to take place at Chepngaina field. West Pokot’s Ortum Boys High School also secured a spot in the semi-finals by defeating Tambach Boys 2-0 at St Michael Secondary School playground. In the girls’ competition, former champions Itigo Girls High School, St Joseph Girls High School, and Trinity Mission Girls School from Nakuru County dominated their opponents to advance to the semi-finals.

St Joseph Girls High School delivered a spectacular performance at Silibwet Stadium, thrashing Mogotio Girls High School 9-0. Abigael Walubengo, Mwanaidi Nzaka, and Pearl Olesi each scored twice, while Flevine Khatenje, Mercy Wamuyu, and Ruth Nanjala added one goal each to the tally.

They will now face Trinity Mission Girls School, who defeated Olmelil Secondary School from Narok County 2-0, thanks to two goals from Ivonne Sekila.

Arch-Bishop Josam Kariuki, the director of St Joseph Girls High School, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to reach the finals, reflecting on their strong performance and the previous year’s semi-final elimination in Laikipia. “We are hoping for the best this time round,” he stated.

In volleyball, national champions Arnesen Boys High School and Kesegon Girls High School, both from Transnzoia, showcased their dominance with victories in the quarter-finals.

Arnesen Boys overpowered Poror High School 3-0, while former national champions Cheptil High School defeated ELCK Kongoi High School by the same margin. Kakibei Secondary School overcame Simat Secondary School 3-0, and St Patrick High School triumphed over Kamito Secondary School 3-1.

In the girls’ volleyball competition, Kesogon Girls crushed Nasokol High School 3-0, and AIC Kosorai High School narrowly defeated Enomatasian Secondary School with the same score line.

Bomet’s Kaboson Girls Secondary School and Trinity Mission School both secured 3-0 victories against Olmoran and Sosiot Girls High School, respectively.
