The government had no allocation for the MPs on the passage of the finance bill, says the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Rigathi said the MPs passed the bill on their own rights as the law allows them without promise for monetary gain. Speaking at Kaharati primary school in Maragua, Murang’a, he said the claims they each got Sh2 million was not true.
” Am pleading with Kenyans to stop antagonizing the parliamentarians that they got each Sh2 million after they voted for the Finance Bill 2024,” said the DP.
He said it was unfortunate that the lawmakers faced alot of ridicule, destruction of their property after they exercised their constitutional rights. ” Let’s be fair to our MPs for their voting rights, as they are allowed to support or reject. They are facing alot of criticism, yet they have another three years to deliver services to their people,” said the DP.
The MPs’ present indicated to have faced ridicule after Juja MP George Koimburi claimed that after they voted there was a share of Sh2 million for each of those who voted Yes.
Present were host Mary Wamaua, Godfrey Gathiru( Embakasi Central) Jane Kihara(Naivasha) James Gakuya( Embakasi North) Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa( Kiambu) among others.
