Nominated MP wants leaders to prioritize education

Nominated MP Ummulkheir Harun called on residents of Ijara sub county to concentrate on education and other development matters, instead of engaging in endless political rhetoric.

Harun called on the area people to remain united and not to agree to be divided along clan and sub clan lines. The nominated MP made the remarks, while addressing students, parents and teachers at Hara boarding primary schools in Hara location, Masalani division in the area.

She called on parents to embrace education of both boys and girls, with a view to improving standards of living in the area. The legislator cited her own father, Mwalimu Harun Mohamed, a career teacher for 30 years, whom she said, sacrificed everything to make her successful in life.

On politics, Harun said the next general election was almost three years away, and when the time comes, the electorate will make a decision on who to lead them.

Consequently, she called on the current elected leaders to concentrate on matters of health, water, roads, education and other aspects that could improve lives of the people in Ijara constituency and the larger Garissa county.
