Unity

Leaders from North Eastern region have pledge to support President William Ruto in promoting unity and vowed to discard parochial politics pegged on tribal and religious affiliations.

Led by Environment Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale, the leaders pledged to foster  unity and equity in provision of service to all Kenyans as enshrined in the constitution. The leaders present included Raso Dido (MP Saku), Guyo Ali Wario (MP Garsen), Naomi Waqo (Marsabit MP), Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo Senator), Chute Mohammed (Marsabit Senator), and Marsabit Governor Mahmoud Ali among other former members of parliament.

“We aim to promote unity in our country by providing equal services to all citizens, including pastoralist communities, to ensure equal treatment,” said Mr Duale. He urged Kenyan leaders and citizens to emulate Tanzania’s approach, where citizens live together without resentment towards their tribal affiliations.

“In Tanzania, people identify as Tanzanians without tribal definitions, while in Kenya, tribalism has been prevalent for no purpose,” said Mr Duale. He urged Wajir, Garissa, Tana River, Marsabit, and Isiolo residents to stop labeling themselves as marginalized and urged Governors to wisely utilize devolution resources for county development.

“Devolution has significantly increased resources, leading to the development of prestigious hotels in Isiolo town and allocation of funds at the Senate, with each county having a representative,” said Mr Duale.

Lastly, the leaders who also vowed to support the broad-based government were speaking during ASAL’s Principal Secretary’s Son wedding Mr Guyo Harsame held at one of the hotels in Isiolo.
