Nyeri Mega National volleyball tournament to be held at Kamukunji grounds

Nyeri Mega National Volleyball Tournament will be held on the 10th and 11th of August, 2024, at the Nyeri Kamukunji Grounds.

This was disclosed during a meeting held between the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender, Youth, Sports, and Social Services Esther Ndung’u, and the Nyeri County Volleyball Association led by Kenya Volleyball Federation – Nyeri County chairman, Jacob Munene.

During the meeting, they delved into the key aspects and objectives of the tournament, which aims to promote and nurture youth talent in volleyball within Nyeri County. This event is designed to provide a dynamic platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and passion, paving the way for their further development and potential international representation.

The Chairman reiterated the comprehensive support to the volleyball teams given the crucial role that sports play in the holistic development of our youth. Ndungu, commended the team for promoting sports, encouraging talent development and inspiring many youths to pursue their passions with renewed vigor.

She also acknowledged the importance of collaborations for the optimization of the benefits to the community. “This tournament is more than just a competition, it is a celebration of the dedication, talent, and sportsmanship of our young athlete,” said Ndung’u.

She added that it also fosters community spirit and unity, inspiring the younger generation and highlighting the exceptional talent in our county on a national stage. The county executive called on more youth to join playing volleyball games saying it also helps them to keep fit physically.
