The ODM disaster response team has distributed over 3000 bags of maize flour and other non-food items to Mavoko flood victims.

Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko who was present during the food drive and spoke at the DCC office in Athiriver, emphasized that the government should expedite the compensation for flood victims.

Mishi suggested that the government should explore alternative land options for Mavoko residents following the evictions and floods crisis. She promised to bring more mattresses, more blankets and other non-food items to Mavoko people to help them keep warm.

Migori Senator Eddy Oketch who is also the ODM disaster team chairman said that after the food drive, the government should help the women and youth with employment opportunities to get them get back on their feet.

He said they are going around the country distributing food and non-food items to flood victims. Meanwhile, Kaiti Legislator, Joshua Kimilu urged the government to consider low-income earners in taxation and fulfill their promise to increase hustlers.
