Mombasa-based Omax FC have finished their season in the FKF Division One Zone A with a victory at Serani Sports Ground against the league runners-up, Fortune Sacco. The 1-0 victory in favour of Omax shattered Fortune Sacco’s hopes of securing automatic promotion to the National Super League (NSL).

As a result, they now face the task of battling for promotion through a playoff match against MOFA. This setback was further compounded by 3K’s 3-1 win against Kibera United which assured 3K of the league title.

The game’s sole goal came in the 33rd minute, when Omax’s Ali Juma capitalized on a cross from Tyson Muga, to score a goal. Reflecting on the victory, Assistant Coach Hassan Hussein expressed satisfaction with Omax’s performance in their debut season in Division One.

“It was our first season in Division One and we performed well. We are officially starting our preparation early for the next season aiming for promotion to the NSL,” said Hussein.

Omax FC’s journey in Division One this season culminated in a commendable fifth-place finish, setting a promising foundation for their future aspirations.

“It is an encouraging sign that we secured promotion last year and in our debut season here, we have demonstrated our capability for another promotion, so our sights are set on achieving it next season,” Hussein said, highlighting the club’s ambitious objectives for next season.

However, a significant development for the upcoming season is Omax’s transformation into Congo Boyz earlier this season, as Congo decided to adopt Omax due to financial considerations. Focused on achieving greater success, Omax FC is gearing up to commence an intensive training programme to focus on securing promotion to the National Super League in the next season.

This season, Simba Apparel, Malindi Progressive and Olympic Pirates faced disappointment as they were all relegated from the Division One Zone A league while 3K emerged triumphant, clinching the title with a promotion to the NSL
