Residents of Kowuor village, Boya Sub Location within Ndhiwa Sub County are living in fear following frequent invasion by hyenas that have allegedly killed some of their livestock.
According to them the latest incident occurred last night where a group of hyenas raided a homestead belonging to a farmer and killed his bull. Confirming the incident, the area assistant chief Milton Kawino said the attacks have been on the rise recently adding, “Yesterday night a pack of hyenas invaded one of the local farmers’ pen and killed a bull.”
Kawino said the hyenas have been spotted by area residents roaming around freely day and night and suspected they had strayed from the Ruma National Park and were hiding in the nearby bushes. The administrator implored the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) officers to intervene and help salvage the situation to protect the farmers from further losses.
