A man died on the spot Thursday after he was hit by a vehicle that did not stop at Oasis area along the Narok- Bomet highway.

Narok County police commander Riko Ngare said members of the public reported the 4pm incident that occurred at 4pm and efforts to track the hit-and-run vehicle’s driver was futile. He called on motorists to be vigilant while driving on the smooth highway to avoid causing accident.

The body was moved to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary and police are calling on families or friends who have lost a loved one to visit the hospital to identify the deceased. Data from National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) on July 7th showed that at least 2, 400 people had lost their lives from January to July.

From the report, pedestrians accounted for the highest number of deaths at 919, while motorcyclists and passengers followed the list at 555 and 478 respectively.
