Parties
Kenyan political parties have been urged to ensure that those they offer for leadership positions are people of integrity, capable of steering the country into greater heights of prosperity.
Movement for Growth and democracy (MDG) party leader, David Ochieng has said that for us to sort out what he termed as the malaise in leadership that is bedeviling the country, both the electorate and their respective parties must ensure that those who take up the leadership positions are clean and transparent.
The MDG party leader, who is also the Ugenya Mp was speaking in Siaya town, when he addressed MDG delegates and later attended a political rally during the launch of campaigns to revamp the party. Ochieng said it was ridiculous for Kenyans to lament about poor development, when they entrust tribal chauvinists and the uneducated to lead them.
“In Kenya today, we chose the most un-schooled, uneducated and the most tribal to run the government” he lamented, adding that “We cannot grow that way”. He said MDG party was committed to fighting tribalism and corruption and will champion for meritocracy as part of the efforts to spur development.
The MP further called for unity among Kenyans, adding that the country cannot be allowed to degenerate into tribal cocoons run along ethnic boundaries. The MDG party leader is set to take the popularization campaigns to various counties in Nyanza and Western regions in the coming weeks.
