Political supremacy plays as Cabinet Secretaries watch.

The political enmity between MPs Mary Wamaua and Betty Maina was laid bare in full view of four members of the cabinet, in a forum aimed at aiding the old behind the weaving of baskets in Kigumo sub county.

In a forum to raise funds to support Murang’a women in weaving, Cabinet Secretaries Simon Chelugui,Aisha Jumwa, Alice Wahome and secretary to the cabinet Mercy Wanjau at Kigumo Bendera Grounds watched as the supporters of the two clashed.

In less than a week, their differences accelerated, and this time occurred in a ceremony organised by Senator Veronica Maina. Hell broke loose when Betty, the Murang’a woman representative arrived at the function escorted by her spouse and Mathira MP Erick Wamumbi  singing  in proving their worth.

But the master of ceremonies, Wamaua and the Maragua MP appealed to Betty to tame her team so as not to disrupt the programme which was in progress. Her plea fell on deaf ears as the group turned rowdy and marched near the dias until the bodyguards of the VIP put in a corridor.

Only Betty and her spouse Erick Wamumbi accessed the dias as others returned to the tents provided. But when given the podium, Ms  Maina  spoke ill of her detractors as supporters of Wamaua jeered.

She put up a spirited fight accusing Wamaua of sabotaging her through her influence in the police and administration saying the culture of intimidation must stop.

“Am out to defend myself from this kind of humiliation,”said Maina. Wamumbi on his part asked Murang’a Wamaua and CS Wahome to mentor the woman representative who was young based on their age and experience in politics.

“I plead with my sisters Alice Wahome and Wamaua to mentor Betty since she is young, ” said Wamumbi.

More chaos followed in the VIP section, as the police moved into action and maintained peace as the supporters of the two dared each other. The Cabinet secretaries Chelugui, Jumwa  and Wanjau veered off the  Murang’a political supremacy debate as Wahome warned the youthful politicians to trend carefully.

” Wamumbi, this your inlaw’s county and there are protocols, keep your boundaries to avoid tormenting,” she said.

Jumwa and Chelugui said Murang’a women have excelled in business and the government will support them once they form a cooperative.

The weaving products ,Chelugui said, will be sold through interest and members share the profits.
