A 27-year-old man who broke into the house of his neighbour and stole a Sh180,000 worth power saw has been arraigned before a Kabarnet court and charged with stealing.

The accused, Tobias Kemboi, allegedly broke and entered into the dwelling house of Nicholas Yegon where therein stole the said power saw on July 8, 2024 at an unknown time at Kapchepkoro village in Baringo Central Sub County within Baringo county.

Kemboi appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM) Edwin Mulochi charged with burglary contrary to section 304 (2) of the Penal Code and pleaded not guilty.

He was also charged with stealing contrary to section 268 (1) as read with section 275 of the Penal Code. “Your honour, the charges against me are not true since I was not involved in the theft and I’ve never involved myself in any form of stealing,” he said.

The Prosecution Counsel Ms. Rebecca Bartilol had no objection to granting the accused bond terms having supplied the accused with a witness statement and the charge sheet. Ruling, SRM Mulochi after extending plea of not guilty gave the accused bond terms of Sh100,000 and one surety of similar amount with an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.

He directed the case to be mentioned on July 24 when a hearing date would be fixed.
