President Ruto mourns Francis Ogolla describing him as one of the dedicated soldier.

Nine military officers perished following a helicopter crash in Kaben location in Tot Division in Elgeyo Marakwet. President William Ruto announced the passing on General Francis Ogolla who was on board the aircraft while on a working tour.

Ruto in his address to the nation said the plane had 11 soldiers on board, as two are receiving treatment. “It’s a sad moment for the loss of the galant military officers led by Ogolla who had toured Marakwet for meeting the soldiers and inspecting the school’s rehabilitation undertaken by the service men,” said Ruto.

The President chaired a National Defence Council meeting after he was briefed on what transpired prior and after the aircraft craft at around 2.20pm. The CDF had inspected the five schools in Elgeyo Marakwet and went to the Kainuk area in Turkana to assess the security situation.

“The aircraft went down from Kaben on the way to Uasin Gishu for another security meeting,” said the head of state as he mourned the nine.

He wished those who survived a quick recovery.
