Change of guard is simmering at the University of Nairobi as the council insists Professor Njoroge Gitau will hold the office of the vice chancellor in acting capacity.
The University of Nairobi Council chaired by Dr Chair Amukowa Anangwe has insisted on the ouster of embattled Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama with replacement by Njoroge..
“Professor Njoroge Gitau shall continue to serve as the Acting Vice Chancellor, with the full authority of the Council to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to the position,” a statement issued on Wednesday, May 22 reads in part.
The journey to remove the embattled Prof Kiama from office was initiated a month ago after he was sent on compulsory leave, pending his exit, as the council appointed Prof Gitau as the new Vice-Chancellor.
