Residents in Gachocho village in Kigumo, Murangāa overpowered the police and killed a murder suspect. The residents battled with the police before they gained access into the cells and forced the suspect Richard Maina out and clobbered him to death in revenge.
Maina and his brother who is at large were implicated in the brutal murder of their brother Joseph Kibugi who was a daring to the Gachocho community. Hell broke loose in Kigumo after residents broke into Gachocho police station as they fired in the air to scare away the protestants who remained unmoved killed a murder suspect.
In the dramatic chase, some of the police officers were injured. Ā Residents said they were disturbed over the death of KibugiĀ who was clobbered in full view of his wife Esther Wambui and their children.
Wambui recounted how her two brother-in-laws clobbered her husband with a jembe and a plank of wood hitting him on the heads as she was warned against raising the alarm. ā They hit me on the head warning me to remain silent in full view of my children,ā said Wambui.
Kigumo sub county police commander Nixon Kiprono said the police will issue a statement concerning the incident later.
