Protest
Residents of Kapsokwony town today protested on the poor state of Kapsokwony-Kimilili road. Led by John Kwemi, a bodaboda operator along that road, they said that the ongoing heavy rains have made the condition of the road to move from bad to worse.
Kwemi said that this has made the bodaboda operators to increase fare from Kapsokwony-Kimilili from 100 to 150. He further noted that during the campaigns, President William Ruto assured them that the road would be tarmacked in the first six months after assuming office.

“It is now two years and no one is talking about the road,” he noted. The bodaboda operator said that they were spending a lot of money on maintenance of their motorbikes and vehicles using the road. Kwemi noted that their efforts to reach the Mt Elgon Area Member of Parliament Fred Kapondi had proved futile.
Residents were spotted lighting tyres and planting banana stems on different spots of the road. They gave the government an ultimatum of 14 days to address the issue of Kapsokwony-Kimilili road failure to which they would be forced to paralyse transportation services along the road.
