Trees
Ahadi Kenya CEO Dr Stanley Kamau has called on people not to plant trees near their neighbors’ homes as they create disputes when they mature. Kamau said trees are a common cause of disputes between neighbors especially when one wants to trim or cut them one must ask for a permission from a neighbor as it may cause destruction.
He called on the relevant authority to sensitize those purchasing plots about trees to ensure trees don’t destroy other people’s houses. He spoke this over the weekend during the flagging off and participation of the Go Green Hub Annual environmental walk in Nyeri town.
“We must join hands to save our beautiful planet as there is no other place in the universe so beautiful, so vibrant and so lively by being responsible and tree planting” said Kamau
Kamau also urged all Schools to ensure all students who join first year to plant trees and nurture them in all their school life. This he added will ensure that the youngsters know the importance of conserving the environment while still young.
During the walk Officers from the County Government of Nyeri also joined the Go Green Hub Walk which was also attended by Waste Management Chief Officer Violet Koigi, a former MCA Hon. Julia Wanjiku with the walk beginning from Ruring’u Stadium Nyeri Town, to the Nyeri Primary School and later to King’ong’o.
The walk was championed by primary, secondary, tertiary students from various institutions, stakeholders and other Friends of Go Green Hub. This year’s theme was Nurturing Youth for Land Restoration. In the spirit of conserving the environment, the organization has planted 1.8 Million trees and is targeting 10 Million trees in the next few years.
