Molo Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC), Timon Odingo has urged residents of Kapsita B area to desist from taking the law into their hands in matters of security. Odingo’s sentiment comes days after irate residents in the area torched three houses belonging to a suspected rustler, John Muriuki who is at large to date.

According to the police boss, Muriuki is said to have escaped from the wrath of the residents when it was discovered that three head of cattle stolen from Milimani estate owned by John Muma were traced to his homestead.

Working on a tip off from the members of the public, Odingo said police made a follow up only to find the suspect missing and his homestead torched by the angry residents.

He firmly warned against this move saying that this it is unacceptable adding they should allow the law to take its course for a fair trial before the matter is heard and determined in a court of law.

Further, he reiterated that residents are obligated to address security concerns together with other security institutions such as courts and therefore urged them to work with them in ensuring that all culprits are brought to book.

Investigations into the matter have commenced with the anti-stock theft police taking up the matter.
