Residents urged to collect ID cards

Residents of Busia County who applied for National Identification (Maisha) cards have been urged to collect them at Busia Huduma Centre. Speaking to KNA at the facility on Thursday, Busia Huduma Centre Manager Mercy Chebet said that 4073 cards were lying uncollected at the facility.

“On Monday, August 26, we received a total of 3387 new Maisha cards and we are encouraging the registered owners to come and collect them,” she said, adding that some of the IDs have been collected.

Chebet also asked those who applied for birth certificates through the facility to collect the documents, adding that 41 processed documents were being held at the centre. “So I want to urge those who applied for these documents to come and collect them,” she said, adding that one processed death certificate was also ready for collection.

The official further informed the residents of Butula Sub County to come out in large numbers and participate in Huduma Mashinani which is scheduled at the Deputy County Commissioner’s compound on September 3, 2024.

“We have different government services including KRA, NCA, Issuance of police abstracts, SHIF, National Identification Card replacement application, registration of development groups, liquor licensing among others,” she said, adding that Bliss Health facility would also be there to offer health services on that day.

She explained that Maisha card is the latest identification document that has unique features adding that applicants are expected to pay Sh1050 through e-citizen when placing application for the document.
