Robbery suspect killed in botched robbery in Ogembo

An unknown male adult was fatally shot while two others fled the scene at Ogembo market in Gucha Sub County, Kisii after the trio failed to execute a robbery at an M-pesa shop in the market. 

According to a police report, members of the public reported a shootout at Ogembo market prompting police officers from Ogembo Police Station to rush to the scene.

The police established that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters who were conducting operation duties within Kisii County and acting on intelligence, were trailing a motorcycle registration number KMGK 292 used by the suspects.

The report indicated that the three suspects opened fire at the DCI officers as they fled in different directions after noticing their presence when they were about to commit the robbery.

One of the suspects with no identification documents was shot dead and a browning pistol with a distorted serial number recovered while the other two swam through River Gucha and escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.

The body of the deceased was taken to Gucha Sub-County Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
