Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo on Thursday gave out three school buses to education institutions in his constituency The MP said the buses bought using funds from the Constituency NG-CDF kitty were meant to facilitate students to attend education tours, sports and any other academic need that may arise in the schools.
The MP said his effort in education and in concert with other education stakeholders, has seen schools in Kasipul constituency take lead in Homa Bay County in KCSE examination
The buses bought during the financial year 2023/2024 at a cost of Sh8 million each went to Kalando and Sino SDA Mixed Secondary Schools and Rachuonyo Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in what the MP termed as a special request by the institution.
Governor Wanga who was the main guest during the event held at Agoro Sare Primary School ground flagged off the buses The governor said her government is working closely with the national government to improve the education standards in the county
Governor Wanga said since the last financial year, she started programme to upgrade ECD centres in every ward saying she targets to build 160 ECD classrooms in the next two year. The governor said when she came into office, she found the ECD classes deplorable but promised the situation is nowchanging.
The number of buses distributed to schools since 2017 now stand at 15 according to the CDF chairman Ronny Rapemo Among the secondary schools that have benefitted in this programme are Karabok, Agoro Sare, Nyalenda, Kosele, Dol, Nyagoa and Kachieng, all mixed.
Others are Ochwando mixed, Obisa, St. Peters Kotieno and Nyandiwa secondary schools. “There are other ongoing laboratory projects worth Sh5 million each in Nyalenda secondary, Agoro Sare mixed, and Karabok mixed,” he said.
