This comes after boda boda operators in Kimana last week staged a demonstration at Kimana police station while with a body of a colleague who was killed after been robbed his motorcycle.

The committee led by Deputy County Commissioner Antony Maina said police night patrols would be conducted in order to bring security in the area. Maina said the insecurity in Kimana and its environs not only affected the bodaboda operators but was also negatively affecting businesses.

During the session with the committee, the bodaboda operators blamed the motorcycle lending companies of colluding with culprits in stealing their motorcycles since they never follow up the matter when reported and they never demand for payment of loans later.

The operators also requested the security personnel to close down all videos dens terming them as the bleeding spots for robbery. They noted that in those video dens and muguka bases, idlers spent the whole day there then engaged in robbery at night.

They also called upon the residents with farm helps or house helps to have their details recorded as a way of identifying strangers among them. While responding to their grievances in Kimana town, the Deputy County Commissioner urged the bodaboda operators to establish a structured leadership which the security personnel could work with in containing the insecurity.

He also assured them the security apparatus would enhance surveillance on people who visiting the area from outside the sub county so as to ensure all law-abiding citizens were protected while those with evil intent are arrested and prosecuted.

The boda boda operators promised to cooperate with area security personnel in containing insecurity.
