Shock as Grandson kills grandmother

A 26-year-old grandson, Derrick Biva has butchered and his helpless grandmother in Homa bay County, before going underground. The incident occurred at Otel village Kojwach east, Rachuonyo east Sub County, has left residents in shock.

Area Chief James Oindi said the victim mama Pesila Anyango Ojwang aged 89 was killed by her grandson over reasons not yet known.

The chief said the young man is said to have used a knife which he picked from the grandmother’s house to slit her throat. The old woman was discovered in a bloody pool by another 10-year-old grandson, who had come back home to assist the deceased with some household tasks.

The chief urged residents to remain calm saying the suspect would be arrested soon. However, the chief asked the residents to always report to the authority’s children exhibiting bad behaviours for necessary action to be taken before they cause damage.

Rachuonyo East police commander Justus Kucha said the police have commenced investigations into the incident. On his part, Kabondo Kasipul Luo council of elder’s chairman Ker Apollo Bwana has called on leaders especially the politicians, religious leaders and parents to instill good morals in society to avert such worrying incidences.

 The body was moved from the scene to Rachuonyo South Sub County Hospital Mortuary for a post mortem examination.
