Soldiers to lead the way to combat climate Change

President William Ruto has urged the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) to lead the way to planting of trees in 10 years, in efforts to combat climate change.

Ruto said KDF has the capacity to be the lead agent in tree planting to help combat the climate change that has impacted negatively in the country thus need to plant 15 billion trees.

He spoke during the KDF Recruits Pass out Parade in Eldoret Barrack saying he has confidence that the KDF is equal to the task. “KDF with the responsibility to defend the country should work with the Ministry of Environment to be the lead agent in tree planting as it has the capacity,” said the head of state.

Climate Change, he noted, remains a major threat to national development as the country came from the severe drought followed by heavy rains.

“Last Friday through the show of patriotism Kenyans of all walks of life planted millions of trees,’ said the head of state.
