Sports stakeholders have been encouraged to attend grassroots junior secondary school (JSS) ball games to identify young talents, nurture them, and potentially offer sponsorships.

Speaking during the Sub County (JSS) Ball games, Mohammed Kipasenua, the chairman sports Transmara West Sub County, asked the stakeholders to attend JSS ball games sporting competition at grassroots levels for them to identify talents.

“Many talents are found at young stage, and stakeholders need to attend these school’s competitions for them to identify talents” added Kipasenua. Additionally, Kipasenua said that the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) has helped teachers to identify young learners who are talented in every field.

Kipasenua added that the Sub County is rich with talents, but the challenge is; stakeholders are not coming down to the grassroots levels to identify the talents. Thus, this led to a final between the two teams from Osupuko JSS and Njipiship JSS ending a draw of 2:2 when they moved to penalties where Osupuko won 4:3.

On her part, Nancy Kemush a JSS teacher from Osupuko said the young talents are found at the grassroots level and there is a need for stakeholders to identify them at an early age. However, Kemush added that CBC has played a significant role in the sporting activities as it helps in identifying talents within the learners.

Lastly, Narok county JSS ball sporting games competition will be held at Ilkarian, at logorian Transmara south starting from 18th July, 2024 this week.
