A suspected boda boda thief was on Thursday killed by an angry mob at Nyangweso market within Rangwe Sub County. According to witnesses, Ibrahim Onyango was seen trying to take off with a motorbike at the market and an alarm was raised.

He attempted to escape but was captured by the residents who brought him back to the market and murdered him when he admitted having stolen the motorbike.  Onyango was allegedly among other suspects involved in stealing motorbikes from unsuspecting owners in the area.

This incident comes after the residents within Nyangweso area had raised concerns over insecurity issues especially during market days.  The chairman of Nyangweso market Micah Osiga reiterated that thieves have been known to target the market, stealing motorcycles and other valuables and criticized the police for their slow response in such situations.

He implied that timely police intervention could have prevented the tragic outcome and called for the establishment of a police post in the area to enhance security.
