Floods
Two Maasai Mara University students drowned after they slipped and fell into the Enkare-Narok river in Narok Town.
Confirming the incident, county commissioner of Narok Kipkech Lotiatia has said that the search for the two bodies is underway and being carried out by the Multi Agency team and the Kenya Red cross in Narok County.
Lotiatia has said the two students were a male and female and both were crossing over the river, adding that the students didn’t use the right bridge constructed for residents to use.
“There is a constructed bridge up there, that the students were supposed to use while crossing over the river, of which they did not use the right path and that’s why they slipped and fell into the river,” the CC added.
Lotiatia urged the residents to be vigilant on flooding areas, however warned them to desist from throwing thrash into the CBD drainages which he said can block and trigger floods.
Lotiatia noted that the river burst its banks overnight following hours of heavy rains that are being witnessed countrywide.
Lotiatia further called on Narok residents to be vigilant moreso for those who are living in low ends which are prone to flooding to move to safer grounds.
