Following the proposed transfer of Amboseli National Park from National Government to Kajiado County Government, a committee carrying out public participation campaign held a public engagement workshop in Eldoret Town on July 3 to collect views from residents.

A majority of the workshop attendees recommended the commissioning of the Park to the County Government of Kajiado despite other divergent views.

But John Ngeno who held divergent views said the transfer would be catastrophic as it would lay off employees especially those from other counties who have worked at the park for long.

Ngeno also expressed fear over possible revenue mismanagement by corrupt County officials. He further said that the County Government lacked the prowess of running a park of such magnitude. Ngeno said the transfer of the park would deny the National Government the much-needed funds for national development.
