Uasin Gishu’s public participation exercise on Gachagua’s impeachment ends in disarray

Residents of Uasin Gishu County stormed out of a public participation venue where they were to submit their views on the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Two groups clashed, as one group raised their hands to express their views on the proposed impeachment at the same time another group shouted in opposition to the impeachment leading to chaotic scenes that ended up stopping the activity. Several residents refused to engage in the exercise, and some agreed to fill in the provided questionnaires.

Police intervened and moved out a section of the residents that was causing chaos.In an interview with Sheik Abubakar Bini, the chair of the Council of Imams and Preachers Uasin Gishu County said he hoped the impeachment motion would go on in peace as every Kenyan has a right to give their opinion but everything ended up in chaos

A resident, Kipkemei Arap Tanui said that they voted for President William Ruto and his deputy in the hope that they will lead the country as one and should not involve Kenyans in their differences.He urged the leaders to stop having tribal disputes, noting that the residents of Uasin Gishu were not interested in tribalism.
