Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo has claimed the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party grassroots elections being conducted in the area has been marred with irregularities and malpractices.
Speaking in Narok, Tongoyo claimed that the first wave of the grassroots elections was done at polling stations being characterized with irregularities asserting that the malpractices is being transferred to the next level of elections.
He said they have raised an alarm to the party National elections board on the irregularities and called for a repeat of elections in 86 polling stations in Narok county. “If the first level was marred with irregularities, that means it will be transferred to the next level,” said Tongoyo
Tongoyo also claimed that despite delegates being in the UDA portal winner’s summary list, more than 1,200 delegates were omitted from the voter’s register, hence denying them their democratic right to vote during the ward level elections that was completed on May 18.
We are missing on both the manual and uploaded register on the voting gadgets,” added Tongoyo
He also said that after they raised an alarm at first stages of the commencement of the primaries; the party agreed to strike out over 2,900 non-UDA members from the delegates voting register as guided by the party constitution, Article 4.3.
