UDA grassroot election under way 

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroot election will be held in four phases starting on Friday, April 26 to Saturday, August 24. In phase one, elections will be held in the counties of HomaBay, Nairobi, Narok, Busia, West Pokot, and Isiolo will hold their elections.

 On June 22, the party will conduct grassroots elections in the counties including Mombasa, Nyandarua, Thara Nithi, Bungoma, Siaya, and Taita Taveta.

The third phase, on August 10 the elections are slated for the of Kiambu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Muranga, Kericho, Lamu, Nyamira, and Embu counties, among others. And on August 24, the grassroot polls will be organized in the counties of Nakuru, Nyeri, Bomet, and Kirinyaga counties among others.

In the preparation of the grassroot polls, UDA appointed KRA Chairman Mr Anthony Mwaura and KPLC Chairperson Ms Joy Mdivo to chair the National Elections Board and the Electoral Dispute Resolution Committee respectively.

UDA Chairperson Ms Cecily Mbarire said the appointments were made to ensure there will be a smooth and fair election process.

“The National Steering Committee sitting convened to deliberate on the upcoming grassroots elections, UDA committed to conducting a free and fair grassroots election in all 47 counties,” said Mbarire.

The Mwaura led committee will have seven-members and be deputized by Veronica Kiberenge.The members are Lydia Munika, Jimmy Kaingi, Mary Mutinga, Halake Dida, and Linda Kiome.

 The dispute and resolution committee led by Mdivo will be deputized by Lawyer Mr Adrian Kamotho,  with members being Barbra Japan, Kaberia Isaac, and Yvonne Cherop among others.
