United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is making inroads in Siaya county and has so far registered 196,000 members, party members in Siaya led by Julius T. Okinda have said.

According to Okinda who vied for Siaya senatorial seat during the last general elections as an independent candidate, more people from the county are on the way to President William Ruto led party with the imminent absence of opposition leader, Raila Odinga in the local politics.

Addressing the press in Siaya town where he announced his decision to join UDA, Okinda urged the residents of Siaya and the entire Nyanza region to work closely with the government of the day. “Let us join UDA in large numbers so that we strengthen our position within the party structure,” he said adding “I believe that going forward, despite any kind of dreams, William Ruto will be president until 2032.”

Okinda said there is no point for Nyanza residents to continue wasting time in the opposition when everybody knows that in the absence of Raila Odinga, nobody has the guts to lead effective opposition in Kenya. He called on the Siaya residents to take advantage of the UDA party elections scheduled to take place on 29/6/2024 in the county to register in large numbers, saying that they should not be intimidated by threats from other parties that claim dominance in the region.

A member of the UDA party in Siaya, Richard Ochieng said democracy must be allowed to thrive in Siaya by allowing people to join parties of their choice. Ochieng hailed Information Cabinet Secretary, Eliud Owalo and Interior Principal Secretary, Raymond Omollo for working tirelessly to bring the community to the government.
