Homa Bay Governor and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has urged politicians proposing and propagating to extend the presidential term limits to desist and focus on national pressing matters.

Wanga who spoke on Sunday during a celebration to honour a Migori Gospel icon Milka Omondi at the International Gospel Ministries (IGM) said that the country had a lot of pressing issues that needed to be solved to ease the economic burdens of the country residents.

“Recently he had the Gen-Z protests who need their grievances to be sorted and addressed. We need solutions to the; high cost of living, food security and proper health care services not an extension of terms”, said Wanga. The proposed extension of the legislative and executive terms from five to seven years was proposed by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei but a backlash by some politicians and citizens has been louder in recent weeks.

Wanga said that the proposal to extend term limits of politicians was not only malicious but unwarranted. “I am happy to do my five years and if the people of Homa Bay will decide to give me another five-year mandate in 2027 I will be happy to continue serving them”, explained Wanga.
