Plans are underway to connect Ijara, Bothai and Hulugho to the national grid to ensure ward digital hub materialise in all wards in Ijara constituency and Garissa County in general. Garissa County Senator Abdul Mohamed Haji said this Wednesday when he visited Sangailu division of Hulugho Sub County.
Senator Haji further advised pastoralists to change their lifestyle of herding large herds of livestock which died during drought or other calamities like floods brought about by climate change. He told the residents that the world is changing and it was paramount that they focus their discussions around having a common goal and vision instead of obsession with border disputes yet borders were just created for identification.
To this end, the Senator said he was committed to bringing cohesiveness and peaceful coexistence within communities living in Garissa County and their neighbours. He said the problems bedeviling the residents over border conflict on Lamu -Bothai border and Ijara-Tana River counties must cease and people should live observing good neighbourhood and stop small skirmishes.
Senator Abdul Haji visited the residents in Sangailu division and recorded most of their problems advising them they have Senator Haji revealed that Ijara leaders would meet their counterparts in Garissa in a bid to resolve recent skirmishes where six Ijara youth were killed, creating enmity with their brothers from Garissa County.
The Senator later said he was planning to bring together elders from Samawathal Community and their brothers Sinwaq in Nairobi next week to beseech them to come together in good neighbouriness. Senator Haji was accompanied by leaders from Garissa County, Hulugho MCA Adow Omar and his Sangailu counterpart Muhiyadin Haji among other local elders.
