Cabinet Secretaries
West Pokot governor Simon Kachapin says he is fully supportive of the president’s decisions to nominated cabinet secretaries. He noted that the President has the constitutional authority to nominate individuals whom he felt would assist him in his duties.
“We are praying for the President and stand behind him in full support,” the governor said. However, Kachapin observed that there were anti-government protests in the West Pokot County and suggested that any protests that may have occurred in the region could have been instigated by county politics.
The governor noted that the county currently boasts an investor who has injected over Sh30 billion into the region, which has long suffered from negative publicity. “The investor’s decision to invest in the county should be celebrated by all, as he has effectively promoted the county as a prime investment destination,” he urged the residents.
The governor urged the Gen Zs and those who may have negative opinions about the investors in the region to reconsider their stand, pointing out that numerous counties across the country have successfully attracted investors and industries. “The people of West Pokot, particularly those residing in the Sebit and Ortum areas, warmly welcomed the investor, and it should not be frowned upon if there are individuals who are not supportive,” the governor noted.
The governor emphasized the various direct and indirect advantages that have been witnessed in the county following the establishment of the factory by the investor, which he said included heightened economic activity and the potential for building hotels and lodges for the factory workers.
Kachapin encouraged the locals to capitalize on the investments by setting up businesses and industries in the area.
