Over 1000 Schools in the Western region participated in the just concluded Primary schools’ music festival held at Butere Girls High School. The Regional Music Festival Secretary Lazarus Fandiye said the event was successful and attracted more schools than the previous fete.
“Our region is very competitive in terms of music and it has inspired a significant number of schools to join,” he stated. The pupils performed different genres and in various languages such as Arabic, English, Swahili and French. Fandiye observed that there has been a significant increase in the number of schools involved since the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have seen a remarkable rise in participation from about 100 schools before the pandemic to now more than 1000,” he explained. Fandiye also expressed gratitude to Equity Bank for sponsoring the event by awarding the best-performing students with cash prizes and printing more than 2000 certificates for all participants.
“We thank Equity Bank for their support and making this event a success,” He said adding that the music festival provided a platform for students to demonstrate their musical talents.
