Party-Politics

Mombasa Wiper party members have castigated the disruption of their Party Leader press conference at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation Centre by goons during an Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition meeting.

The press briefing ended in disarray when Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka started to read the resolution of the Azimio meeting before he was interrupted by goons. The members want their Party Leader to break ranks with the ODM supremo who allegedly has forged a deal with the government to get Cabinet Secretaries slots from the proposed ‘broad-based government’.

They want their Party Leader to be respected as a key principal in the opposition outfit not to be treated contemptuously. Speaking in Mombasa Wiper Women Democrats Secretary General Millicent Odhiambo, said they have been played in their journey with ODM and Azimio and must have a common stance as a party.

“It is high time we tell them openly that it doesn’t matter whether they ndekni or kithni (Wiggle or shake) things must change. We will not tolerate being disrespected,” said the visibly agitated Odhiambo. Kalonzo Musyoka, she stated is intelligent, a Senior Counsel and has raised over the years to the echelons of the country leadership and he cannot be looked down upon.

Odhiambo noted that unless there is a change in the coalition Wiper may be forced to chart its course. On his part, Polycarp Mulwa, Chairman Changamwe Wiper branch lauded the move by Kalonzo Musyoka to denounce talks with the government.

“If we decided to join the government our children how will our children who were killed and abducted get justice? Who will follow up on the youth grievances if he joins the government? We have decided as a party and we support Kalonzo Musyoka that there are no negotiations with the government,” said Mulwa.

The members vowed to stand with the youths as they address the grievances of all Kenyans.

Ali Dida, a Wiper member said the dialogue should be between the government and Gen Z who had raised their demands and Kalonzo shouldn’t be forced to negotiate on behalf of the youth who are leaderless. “If ODM want to leave Azimio they should do so peacefully. We won’t force anyone to back us,” said Dida.

Charles Mutisya, Young Wiper Democrats Chairperson said the ODM Leader’s retirement is nigh and should respect their Party Leader.  “It’s high time Raila Odinga respected our party leader Steven Kalonzo Musyoka,” said Mutisya.
