Woman imprisoned over Narcotic Drugs

A 27-year-old woman was imprisoned for 3 years by a Makueni Law Court after she pleaded guilty to being in possession of Narcotic drugs. Catherine Nzilani who appeared before Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora was found in possession of cannabis sativa 150 rolls valued at Sh7,500.

Nzilani who lives in Katoloni village in Makueni Subcounty was arrested on 9th June 2024 by three officers after they got a tip-off from members of the public. The court heard that the accused tried to conceal the bhang, but the rolls fell down as the police went to arrest her on the fateful day.

“I plead to this court for lenience, I am the owner of the bhang recovered. I am a mother of one and this is my first offence,” lamented Nzilani. “The quantity recovered is big and it goes to show that she would have caused a lot of damage to the society,” said Gesora while giving his judgement.

“I order that the accused go to jail for 3years, and she has 14 days to appeal,” he added.
