Death

A sombre mood engulfed Rodi Kopany Township in Homa Bay County following the mysterious death of a 24-year-old woman. The woman, identified as Lilian Atieno, an employee of a solar company in Sori Town, was found lifeless in a guest house room.

According to her uncle Peter Otieno, Atieno had received numerous calls from an unidentified man in the days leading up to her death. The man, who had befriended Atieno, allegedly sent her money for transport and instructed her to meet him at the guest house.

The deceased spent several hours waiting for the man before he eventually arrived at midnight.  The two subsequently checked into the room for the night but the following morning, Atieno was found dead in the room, with no visible injuries.

A postmortem examination has revealed that Atieno died from poisoning and the family is now demanding justice for their kin. Homa Bay Sub-County DCI Commander Charles Koilenge said investigations were ongoing and that samples from the deceased’s body had been sent to the government laboratory for analysis.

Detectives have also established that the suspect used a fake ID to check into the guest house. As the search for the suspect intensifies, Atieno’s colleagues have been summoned to assist in the investigation.  The family and the community at large remained hopeful that the truth behind this tragic incident would soon be uncovered.
