Maasai Mara hotels count losses after floods

The tourism sector in the World-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve is reeling from huge losses following floods which submerged major hotels, lodges and tented camps after Talek River broke its banks.
The park’s chief Warden Stephen Minis said several tourist hotels, lodges and tented camps have been affected.
“It is true a number of establishments have been affected especially those along the Talek River. The river burst its banks due to the rains,” he said.

Several multi-billion tourist hotels, lodges and tented camps are among business establishments that have been hit hard by floodwaters in the World famous Màasai Mara Game Reserve, Chief Park Warden Stephen Minis confirms, saying Telek River burst its banks submerging the businesses

Felix Migoya, the East Africa tour guides and drivers association chairman, who is in the Mara ferrying tourists, said some of the affected camps include Mara leisure, Mara sweet Acacia, Fig tree Camp, Oloshaiki and Ilkelian.
A number of bridges within the reserve have also been affected.
